Achievement Week: Gamma Xi in conjunction with other Eastern Area 1 & 2 chapters seek out and give due recognition to those individuals locally who have made a noteworthy contribution toward improving the quality of life for black Americans. Additionally, an essay contest is conducted where high school students compete for awards for submitting the best essay on a topic of local, national, or international interest.
Achievement Week Award Winners
Scholarship: Named in memory of Calvin Dixon and James Sears, two deceased chapter members who epitomized scholarship and uplift. The Brothers of Gamma Xi, invite black males, in the senior class of high school, to compete for an annual scholarship to help defray the cost of attending an accredited four year college or university. It is our belief that students who complete high school in the upper (3.0 – 4.0 or 4.0 – 5.0 GPA) academic range are more likely to qualify for scholarships offered by mainstream entities. We hope to assist those students who have potential to succeed at higher education but because their grades didn’t reflect performance at the highest levels of academic achievement might “slip through the cracks” and not be afforded an opportunity to attend these institutions. This scholarship is designed to assist those students.
