Bynum, Jr. The purpose of the South Hampton Roads Pan-Hellenic Council (SHARPC) Unsung Hero Banquet is to recognize and honor members of the historically Black Greek-letter organizations known as the “Divine Nine” who have provided exceptional service, leadership, and community impact—often without widespread public recognition. The Gamma Xi 2026 Unsung Hero is Brother Reginald Duckett Jr. Brother Reginald Duckett, Jr., initiated into the Gamma Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Spring 2010, has exemplified unwavering dedication to the Fraternity’s cardinal principles throughout his years of service. A graduate of Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Brother Duckett has consistently used his professional expertise to strengthen the financial stewardship and operational excellence of the chapter, district, and affiliated foundations. His leadership is most notably reflected in his long-standing commitment to fiscal management. Brother Duckett served as Chairman of the Budget Committee from 2012 to 2016 and has held the office of Keeper of Finance for Gamma Xi from 2018 to 2025. In these roles, he has ensured transparency, accountability, and strategic financial planning, earning the trust and respect of his chapter brothers. His contributions extend to the 3rd District, where he has served on the District Audit Committee since 2014, helping to uphold strong financial governance across the region. Beyond financial leadership, Brother Duckett has demonstrated a deep commitment to community uplift through service as Treasurer of the Gamma Xi Uplift Foundation—now the Virginia Uplift Foundation—from 2014 to 2020, and his continued role as a board member, reflect his dedication to supporting scholarships, youth development, and community-based initiatives. His mentorship with the Golden Fold of Alpha Iota Chapter further highlights his passion for guiding young men toward academic achievement, leadership, and personal growth. Brother Duckett’s consistent service on the Social Action Committee and Ways and Means Committee underscores his broad impact and willingness to support the Fraternity wherever needed.
